Step 1 :: Download GrabIt from the official website here.
Step 2 :: After the installation file has been downloaded double click to launch the install. Continue through the installation guide to install GrabIt.
Step 3 :: Once installation has finished launch GrabIt from either the newly created desktop icon, or from the Windows start menu. In the start menu you will find GrabIt in the "GrabIt" folder.
Step 4 :: When GrabIt loads your notice in the left menu under "My GrabIt" Default server. This is where we want to configure GrabIt to work with our newly created Stealthnews account.
Step 5 :: Right click on Default Server and select "Server Properties". Enter the following information into "Server Properties" to configure GrabIt with Stealthnews.
Hostname: news.stealthnews.com
Account name: your_username
Password: **Password created during signup**
Maximum allowed connections: 45
*Please note that more connections doesn't necessarily mean faster speeds. Some people will achieve maximum speed with fewer connections. I usually configure 20 connections and increase if needed
Step 6 :: After configuring GrabIt server properties with your Stealthnews account information select Ok. Now right click on "Default Server" and choose "Refresh Grouplist". This will download our list of over 110,000+ newsgroups into GrabIt.
Step 7 :: For this tutorial we are going to find newsgroups related to cars. If you know the exact name of the group you can enter it in the field labeled "Only show groupnames that contain the word(s)" or you can enter keyword such as pictures autos.
Step 8 :: Once you've found a group that interest you double click it to add it to your personal group list. In this tutorial we are using alt.binaries.pictures.autos
Once the group has been added to your personal groups your notice it's listed under default server in the left menu. To get all the articles in the group right click on it and choose "Full Update" or if you only want a portion of the articles choose "Incremental update"
You'll notice GrabIt will then connect to our high speed servers and download the article headers. You can view the article headers in the "Articles" tab in GrabIt.
Step 9 :: When your find an article you want just double click on it and GrabIt will connect and download the file to your computer. For example you'll notice in the image above "1947 Pontiac Streamliner Station Wagon" at the top of the article list, and we'll also notice this article is a image file because of the .jpg extension. To download this image all I do in GrabIt is double click the article and GrabIt will download the image to my download directory.
Step 10 :: The download directory in GrabIt can easily been accessed by click on "Download folder" in the top menu of GrabIt.
Congratulations, you've successfully configured GrabIt to work with our servers. If you experience any difficulties or GrabIt isn't connecting as should please feel free to contact our technical support team.
